La Grotta di Bernd

20 03 2008

by Frank Apunkt Schneider

The German Autor Frank Apunkt Schneider transfers Antonio Salieri’s “opera comica” La Grotta di Trofonio into a german bus tour.

This contemporary interpretation sees the operas hero as a german bus driver, who talk to – a mostly slepping – group of british tourists. During the long over night travel on german highways, narration get surreal and the story of La Grotta di Trofonio becomes more and more Bernd’s own story.

Bucharest Underground

20 03 2008

by Saviana Stanescu and Toma Enache

Bucharest Underground is an attempt to re-write in a modern manner the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, inserting the characters into the modern and cruel world of business and underground. A bilingual play in Romanian and English, it looks at the clash between two cultures and languages. As a result, Bucharest Underground looks at some of the stereotypes about Romania and Romanians – that they are homeless and high on drugs – and challenges them. The play approaches the love theme, through a soundscape which links opera and radio via the realm of surreal.
